The Home Stretch…Week Eleven

What’s up everyone?  I decided that I go as the Browns go.  When they are doing well, I love to write.  When things are bad, writing about the Browns sucks.  However, I do have a lot of things that I am looking forward to sharing with you today.  I have a lot of music content, and a few things to discuss in the sports department.  First, I want to talk a little bit about politics.  I won’t lie; many of my readers probably have a much better understanding of the political world than I do.  I voted for John McCain, and have a solid argument to back it up, but in no way was I shocked he lost.  Many of my peers also voted for McCain, but were stunned when Obama won.  After the fact that he was elected the 44th president, Republicans had so many terrible things to say about Obama, and the future of the country.  I get everyone’s die-hard political beliefs that come out of the woodwork once every four years, but relax a little bit.  Republicans everywhere act like Obama is Osama and his goal is to bring harm to America.  While I would have loved to see McCain run this country, Obama is going to do a solid job in his own way.  And anyways, you aren’t changing the election, so just run with Obama and see where it takes you.  Stop acting like it’s time to move to Canada.  Ok, pointless rant complete. Let’s get down to business.

The Bad Browns

I don’t know what to say about this team.  There are so many problems going on, and there’s only one way to fix them…WIN.  With seven games left, the Browns have to win out to have a remote chance of making the playoffs.  Wait until Brady rattles off six of the last seven, but we fail to make the playoffs, and end up with the 18th pick in the draft.  All the talk about the players saying that other players quit is directed toward Braylon Edwards or Sean Jones in my opinion.  There is no doubt in my mind Edwards packed it in with a two score lead last week against Denver, and Jones looks a little sluggish in the game film.  Brady Quinn looks good, but he doesn’t have a team that can focus and finish a game.  The quarterback position is far from the problem here in Cleveland.  Yeah, Quinn is going to be very good in this league, but the Browns as a whole need work in every aspect of the game.  Management…This team is about as dysfunctional as it gets in the front office.  Lerner doesn’t care that his money is being blown, Romeo has shown no passion for this team, only when he is forced to eat a cold team dinner.  Phil Savage is speaking his mind when he should just shut up.  He said something about the players not quitting yesterday on WKNR radio.  If the players said that they saw people quitting, I am sure they weren’t lying about it.  Personnel…get rid of Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow, and the whole defense minus Shaun Rogers.  I wish I was capable of determining how many Browns players could start on another team in the NFL.  After doing some research, I say 16 of our 22 players could start somewhere else in football.  The other six should be watching from their couch.  With all of my negativity toward a franchise in shambles, the Browns will come to play Monday night.  I expect them to win, but what does that really accomplish? A season that should have been has become a season that never was.

This is my mid season predictions for the 2008 NFL Playoffs.  If my picks for the season are any reflection of this, don’t plan on seeing any of these teams in the playoffs.

I Put Onnnnnnnnnnnnnn

If you pay attention to my Facebook status or my away message on instant messenger, you should know what you are about to see.  The Cleveland Cavaliers have the best intro in all of sports.  I had the opportunity to head down to the Q last Tuesday to see the Cavs play the Bulls, and had an excellent time in doing so.  Thanks Lou.  I get pumped every single time I see this intro, and I am willing to bet that if you are Cavs fan, you will too.

At least there’s one team in this town that makes me proud to be a Clevelander.  I am ecstatic about the 73 games the Cavs have left on their schedule.  Barring any injuries, the Cavs have the team, the tools, and the talent to take this desperate city somewhere magical.  Can someone tell me what the Cavs biggest problem is going to be this season?  Yeah, Boston is going to be a test, but a great player in LeBron James should be able to overcome those douches.  I foresee some small problems in the post offensively, but other then that, this team doesn’t have many flaws.  I really enjoyed watching Anderson Varejao play live last week.  The guy’s always having so much fun, both on the floor and on the bench.  He’s always messing around with Delonte West, and busting jokes with Bron.  Oh yeah, quit with the LBJ is leaving stuff too.  I am close to taking wagers on him staying in Cleveland, because I am overly confident he’s going put on for his city for years to come.  All I’m saying is Chris Bosh + the Cavs can pay LBJ more than any team in the league = a happy city of Cleveland.  RISE UP!!

Music Marathon

Today is going to be a little different.  I am going to put some random stuff up that I have been interested in lately.  Once the new Lil Wayne mixtape is released, I will have it on here.  It’s called the Dedication Three, check it out.

Download this here, I haven’t heard it yet so I don’t know anything about it.  This is LEGAL to download because it is released for free.  I uploaded it myself, so you don’t have to worry about a virus.

This following video is a cover by The Killers.  It’s one of the better covers I have ever heard.  Yeah, it’s a girlie song, but The Killers put their own spin on it, and utilize the spectacular voice of front man Brandon Flowers.

I have an unhealthy obsession with musicians from time to time.  I like artists that are unique, catchy, witty, and bring a sense of something new to the table.  This week, Kid Cudi’s mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi has been getting an insane amount of iTunes plays.  Cudi is also coming to the Grog Shop on November 29, and I am thrilled to see a live performance by him.  For a rap artist, the guy sounds pretty good live.  Cudi also just had his single Day ‘N’ Nite played on Entourage this past week.  Check out his blog here, he updates it himself, plus it’s interesting to see the life of an up and coming rapper.

Alright, I’m done.  I’ve been trying to write this damn thing for the past two days, and haven’t had the chance to post it.  Below are also my picks for the week.  I haven’t picked the past two weeks, so I obviously can’t factor them into my season totals, but wagering hasn’t gotten any better. Talk to you soon.  Reach your hand up in the air and you can play with the stars, it’s not the hand that you’re dealt, but how you’re playing your cards.
