Is it Sunday Yet?

Keep wagering with me, we can lose the house together.  I went a whopping 6 – 10 last week.  I am not worried.  Wagering on the NFL in week one is very tough to do, so if you lost a few units based on my picks, sorry. But just like the Browns are thinking right now, there’s 16 weeks left to turn it all around.  Today, we are going to discuss the Browns situation, and also dabble around other parts of the NFL.  What did everyone think of Entourage the other night?  I thought it was average at best.  The show has lost its luster to me.  Yeah it was cool at the beginning, but now it’s just blah to me.  Have a good week everyone.  I will be back Thursday or Friday with some thoughts to make you go broke, and talk a little bit about the biggest game in college football this week.

Around the NFL

What’s the deal with Vince Young?  After injuring his knee Sunday, and getting booed off the field at home, there was some concern for Young’s safety on Tuesday.  Young left his house without his cell phone, and the people close to Young were worried about his mental health.  Young’s family members contacted the Titans, who made calls to police.  Young was found at a friend’s house uninjured.  That’s kind of scary for an NFL athlete.  Yeah, he’s getting paid millions, but if his family is concerned about him, the pressure is definitely getting to him.

I’m not happy Tom Brady is hurt, but I am really happy that I won’t have to hear about another Boston team for 6 months.  In just eight minutes last Sunday, Boston fans had their Super Bowl dreams shattered.  I feel bad for Brady, but not for the fans of Boston.  They have won enough championships in the past five years, and are to the point nowadays where they are taking them for granted.  Hey Bill, who has a better record at the end of the season, Cleveland or New England?

How good did Dallas look this past weekend?  I watched that game from my sixth row seat in Cleveland Browns Stadium, and was simply amazed.  I will touch more on the Browns later, but the Cowboys looked superb.  It’s tough to put up a great game against the best team in the NFL.  The Cowboys looked like they have been playing together for years.  The Cowboys are going to dominate the NFC.

How did Indianapolis lose on Sunday?  Peyton Manning not playing in the preseason hurt the Colts more than I would have thought.  With just an 81.2 quarterback rating, Manning just wasn’t himself.  It’s going to take some time for the Colts to get going, but they will be tough further down the road.  Chicago looks like they have the stellar defense they did a few years back.

How good did Aaron Rodgers look?  I was very surprised to see the performance he displayed on Monday night.  Throwing 18 for 22 for 178 yards and a TD is a good evening for an opening day win.  I hope Rodgers has an excellent career in Green Bay.

Isn’t London Fletcher 80?  The guy had 17, yup, 17 tackles last Thursday in a loss against the Giants.

It looks like years of waiting paid off for Michael Turner.  After Turner’s week on stats, ESPN has Turner projected to run for 3,500 yards this season.  Talk about jets, Turner is lightning fast.  It looks like the Falcons have found their only bright spot of the season.

Do Oakland, Cleveland, St. Louis, Seattle, and Houston have defenses?  They sure gave up a lot of points this past weekend.

Burned Browns

Relax Cleveland fans.  We lost to the best team in the NFL last Sunday.  I walked out of Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday, and the atmosphere around me made it feel like we just lost the Super Bowl.  There are 15 games to play, and a whole season of football to right the ship.  Don’t get me wrong, I was letdown and upset after losing to Dallas, but I wasn’t convinced we were going to win the game.  Like I tell everyone, the Browns must start the season 2-2 to have a shot to make the playoffs.  Offensively, the Browns struggled because of a tweaked groin in warm-ups by Dante Stallworth, a few dropped passes by Braylon Edwards, and no offensive chemistry.  What did you expect?  It’s tough when the same players haven’t been on the field at all in the pre-season.  Offensively, the Browns will be fine.  It’s the defensive side of the ball that I have a problem with.  Shaun Rogers could have stayed home on Sunday and it wouldn’t have made a difference.  The guy wasn’t what I thought he was going to be on Sunday.  I thought I was going to see a defensive warrior, instead I saw Ted Washington’s brother.  Our defensive backs are just awful.  I can’t believe we didn’t make any moves for a solid corner.  We can’t focus on double teaming anybody all season because any Browns DB left on an island to guard a wide receiver is going to get burned.  We made all of these moves in the off season with goals of getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and if I remember correctly, Tony Romo had weeks to throw the football last Sunday.  Yeah, it’s Pittsburgh week, and they aren’t nearly as good as Dallas, but it’s going to be a long walk up the hill if we plan on winning Sunday.  A lot needs to happen in just seven days for the Browns to be a severe threat to the Losers.  I hate Pittsburgh, their fans, and their express ways.  In a way, I think losing to Dallas was a good thing for the Browns, and for the fans.  Everyone’s expectations were very high to start the season.  The Dallas game should have humbled everyone that’s a Browns fan.  If it didn’t, get Dr. Melfi’s number from Tony.  Sunday is going to be a good game.  I believe in the Cleveland Browns and what they are trying to do, it took a wake up call last Sunday to get this team in the right direction.  I will be shocked if there’s a let down Sunday.

Ok, I am done. I will be back Thursday with picks and some other nonsense.

  1. dude, entourage was average at best but remember its the begining of the season. im sure it’ll get better. arron rodgers had a sweet game against one the best defenses in the league. good for him, with all hes been through. so now on to the pain. man not really sure how to take that game sunday. i know dallas is sweet, but we couldnt get shit goin. u forgot to mention we had no running game. jamal had 13 carries for 63 yards. 27 of those yards came on 2 carries in the 4th quarter against dallas’ backups. donte will prob not play which will screw us oh yeah and sean jones out at least 2-4 weeks. awesome. cant even write anymore cuz i could ramble on for prob an hour. good luck against pittsburgh ahahaha 0-2

  2. forgot to mention my take on shaun rodgers. he got double teamd for most of the game, the fact that he didnt get to the qb or grab barber or jones a lot doesnt bother me, what bothers me is that cory williams (which nobody has dogged as much as rodgers) didnt do shit. nor did kamerian wimblely who is supposed to be our big rusher. so lets give rodgers a little slack yo
